World Premiere at InnoTrans: ACT-FRMCS

At InnoTrans, NET CHECK will present ACT-FRMCS, an autonomous measurement system for the continuous monitoring and analysis of FRMCS networks.

At InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin, NET CHECK will present the new ACT-FRMCS – an autonomous measurement system for the continuous monitoring and analysis of FRMCS networks. This world-first solution supports up to four FRMCS or public MNO channels, enabling comprehensive testing of future railway communication networks and complex network configurations.

 

From September 22 to 25, NET CHECK will showcase the new ACT-FRMCS at InnoTrans. The system has been specifically developed to meet the requirements of future FRMCS networks, the 5G-based successor to the current GSM-R railway communication standard. Through automated voice and data tests, it enables continuous monitoring and detailed fault analysis.

ACT-FRMCS supports operators both during the deployment and introduction of FRMCS and in the long-term monitoring of network quality. The system is certified for railway use and has already been successfully tested in practice.

One System for Different FRMCS Scenarios

ACT-FRMCS supports up to four FRMCS or public MNO channels and can be equipped with different modem variants. An additional public network uplink enables flexible testing of various network configurations.

This makes it possible to analyze not only the performance and availability of individual connections, but also to test MOCN and other FRMCS functions and examine the coexistence of FRMCS with public mobile networks.

This flexibility is particularly relevant during the introduction of FRMCS: new and existing technologies will coexist for an extended period and need to work together reliably.

Monitoring the Migration from GSM-R to FRMCS

One of the key challenges in the coming years will be the gradual transition from GSM-R to FRMCS. ACT-FRMCS can also be used to monitor this migration from a measurement perspective.

In particular, the system enables the transition of the N100 band from GSM-R to FRMCS to be examined. Changes in network performance during the migration can therefore be continuously monitored and potential impairments identified at an early stage.

ACT-FRMCS thus provides an important data basis for reliably monitoring the transition to the next generation of railway communications.

Continuous Monitoring and Detailed Fault Analysis

ACT-FRMCS performs automated voice and data tests and captures all relevant KPIs. This enables continuous assessment of network quality as well as verification of compliance with agreed service level agreements (SLAs).

The system does more than simply identify that an anomaly has occurred. Network traces enable more detailed analysis and help pinpoint potential causes of network issues.

ACT-FRMCS therefore combines continuous monitoring with in-depth technical analysis – from detecting quality deviations to investigating their root causes.

Developed for the Next Generation of Railway Communications

FRMCS will form the technological foundation for future digital communications in the European railway sector. The transition brings new requirements for measurement, monitoring and quality assurance.

ACT-FRMCS has been developed to support this evolution across different phases: from testing new FRMCS functions and managing the migration and interaction of different networks to continuous quality assurance.

 

ACT-FRMCS at InnoTrans 2026

NET CHECK will present ACT-FRMCS for the first time at InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin from September 22 to 25.
