London’s Best Mobile Network 2026

Vodafone tops the Greater London benchmarking study and earns the title 'London's Best Mobile Network' 2026.

Which provider offers the best mobile network in London? NET CHECK has investigated this question in its latest benchmark study. The evaluation of all collected KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for voice and data services provides a clear result. Vodafone achieves the highest overall score: 957.73 out of a possible 1,000 points. EE follows in second place with 951.04 points, O2 takes third place with 910.14 points, whilst Three ranks fourth and last with 904.01 points.

The assessment covers Service Accessibility, Retainability, network quality, and overall data and voice performance – the dimensions that matter most to real-world user experience.

1,109 Kilometres Across All 33 Districts

For this study, NET CHECK’s measurement technicians drove 24 routes through the Greater London Area covering a total distance over 1,109 kilometres. The measurement area conforms to the administrative boundaries of the Greater London Authority as defined in 1965, encompassing all 32 London Boroughs and the City of London – all 33 local government districts.

The routes were determined independently to ensure representative coverage of the entire metropolitan area. Testing took place on both weekdays and Saturdays, capturing a broad range of network load scenarios and usage behaviours.

State-of-the-Art Equipment, Simultaneous Measurement of All Networks

The measurement setup comprised the SwissQual Benchmarker II (Rohde & Schwarz) and the Samsung S25+, installed in the roof boxes of two passenger vehicles. Active cooling of the devices prevents overheating caused by sun exposure and continuous operation. A key advantage of this approach: all operators are measured simultaneously and at the same locations – ensuring maximum comparability.

In total, approximately 14,600 data samples per operator were collected for data services. For voice services, around 1,300 test calls were made, each yielding 14 speech samples – resulting in approximately 17,600 speech samples in total.

Why Independent Network Benchmarks Matter

Whether it is seamless streaming on the Tube, a stable video call in the office, or a fast file upload on the go – mobile network quality shapes the daily lives of millions of people. But how can network performance be assessed in a meaningful and comparable way? Independent benchmarks provide the answer by delivering robust, neutral data that reflects real user experience under everyday conditions.

This is exactly what NET CHECK delivers. Our methodology is based on ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) standards and has been successfully applied across numerous countries and network operators. The focus is consistently on the end-user perspective: how does an everyday user actually experience the network? The methodology is continuously refined to reflect new technologies and evolving usage patterns – ensuring results that are transparent and relevant for consumers, regulators, and the industry alike.
