mts (Telekom Srbija) provides the best 5G mobile network in Serbia’s largest cities, according to comprehensive measurements conducted by NET CHECK. This result is particularly remarkable given that national 5G licenses were assigned only at the beginning of December by the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (RATEL), following a spectrum auction.
The benchmarking campaign focused on Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš, Kragujevac and Subotica – the five largest urban areas in the country, where around one third of Serbia’s population lives and where mobile data usage is most concentrated. Within this urban scope, mts achieved the highest overall score and ranked first in every city individually.
High Performance in Key Urban Centers
NET CHECK’s measurements were designed to reflect real-world user experience in dense metropolitan environments. Across the five cities, mts achieved a total score of 989.98 out of 1,000 possible points, with excellent results in both data transmission performance and 5G signal coverage.
Average 5G coverage across the measured cities reached 96.55 percent, demonstrating a high level of network availability in the areas that represent the core of mobile traffic and economic activity in Serbia.
Strong Results at an Early Stage of Deployment
At this early stage of nationwide 5G deployment, the measurements provide an initial view of 5G network performance shortly after spectrum allocation. The results highlight mts’ very strong execution of its 5G rollout in Serbia’s most relevant urban environments and point to an excellent foundation for further 5G expansion.
